BALULE OUTREACH TRUST
Balule Outreach Trust engages in development programs in some of the poorest communities in South Africa. They have programs designed to help teachers improve their skills through gaining access to educational resources and training materials by participating in skill upliftment programs. They support school outreach programs which will develop potential of selected learners through advancing their educational, mental, cultural, social and sporting development. Similarly, programs are supported for cultural and social development of children in their early pre-school stages of childhood. Balule also supports programs for awareness of HIV and AIDS related issues in the community.
SUNLIGHT SAFE HOUSE
Safe House is linked to Childline and was started to address the lack of after-hours service for abused or abandoned children. It provides short-term care in a loving home for children removed by the police. In addition, the project trains mothers to run permanent foster care homes. Sunlight Safe House receives approximately 500 children annually who require their help and services.
IKHOLWA CHILDRENS HOMES
Ikholwa Community Services was born out of the need to give hope of improved life to abandoned or orphaned children who have been infected by or affected by HIV/AIDS. Ikholwa has a team of dedicated childcare workers who bond with and nurture the babies from infancy, providing a caring home, nutritional meals and education. This year’s calendar donation has been paid to towards educating children in their care.
HEARTS OF HOPE
Hearts of Hope’s main focus is to provide a platform of family based care for vulnerable children, from all backgrounds who are affected and/or infected by HIV/AIDS. They manage cost effective housing, which provide a loving and caring home to such children. They also support disadvantaged schools through provision of equipment, training, feeding schemes and HIV awareness programmes. Excess of resources is distributed where needed in the broader community too.
Zola Malnutrition & Rehabilitation Crèches of the African Children’s Feeding Scheme
Every year, The Charity Calendar and our generous supporters make a difference to the lives of children at the Zola and Alexandra Malnutrition and Rehabilitation Creches. They receive daily nutricious meals for strength and energy, and ensure their medication is taken on a full stomach. They are also prepared for formal schooling. In past years, the creches upgraded their First Aid Kits, painted their jungle gyms, bought educational equipment, school bags and stationery, and treated the children to an outing to the zoo!
